It is our intention to
provide independent detail of every TSCM product, so far only NLJD's
have been researched
Non
Linear Junction Detectors
A good eavesdropper will notice the
change in an office working pattern during a sweep and remotely switch off the
device making a radio device detector ineffective. A non linear junction
detector will saturate a device with a high frequency then analyze reflections
of the harmonics produced. NLJDs will detect bugs buried deep inside walls
etc.
Radio Device Detectors
The most common bugs are Quick
Plant Devices (QPDs) disguised as pens calculators etc, they are self contained
ie include their own power source, microphone and means of extracting the information. As
the name indicates QPDs are quickly installed and generally use radio waves to
transmit the information spatially. More complex bugs can be
built into the structure of buildings, using the buildings power, often the
antennae will be some distance from the bug.
Cable Checkers
The most important part of
eavesdropping is to extract the information from the bug, use of radio is easily
detected. Another means of extraction is using cables in the form of
mains, telephone or any other cable that exits the controlled space of the
target. Cable checkers scan for bugs installed in phone, double adaptors
etc.
